It’s important to stay informed about what’s happening in your field of business in order to be able to have your business react to your market. One way to stay informed is through social media, namely blogs.

There are a lot of great blogs on almost any topic and it’s hard to keep track of each and every one and even more impossible to visit every blog, each time something new is posted. This is why we subscribe to RSS feeds. This way new blog content is automatically sent to our email inbox. Many blogs also have a regular newsletter they send out that is also sent to your inbox. Subscribe to a few blogs RSS feed and newsletters and you have yourself a healthy stream of daily incoming mails to your inbox. Along with your other daily email, it gets overwhelming fast.

There are many programs and systems to handle a busy email inbox, but I use a simple little system that works for me and takes 30 seconds to set up.

All I do is create a folder called “social media” (in my case), where I add the latest blog posts and newsletters as they come into my inbox. If I don’t have time to read it at that moment, I quickly scan it to see if I find it relevant. If not, I’ll just leave it in my normal inbox.

By creating this folder, you can go back to read your blog subscriptions when you have time and can concentrate on that one thing.

As an added bonus, this expanding folder will serve you as a valuable resource that you can return to at any time to draw information and experience from. Your own personal library specified for your business market.

What do you find is the best way to keep track of your RSS feeds and newsletters? Any advice?
